Abstract:

Despite the constant repetition of tragic incidents in the media, the child welfare system still exists and rarely makes meaningful adjustments. This system produces effects that are detrimental to people’s well-being, including instances of families being wrongfully accused, Child Protective Services failing to support and create more safe solutions, and the suffering that children face. This is the harsh reality that others may not see, but the UpEND movement is bringing attention to these issues. When we recognize how the child welfare system fails our families, it will be possible to voice and advocate for the victims who have been destroyed by systemic injustice.
