The Importance of Child's Literature

Abstract:

The genre of children’s literature is overlooked in the eyes of theorists, and is not appreciated in the means that it should be. There’s a huge sense of under-appreciation for the importance of children’s literature. Focusing on children’s literature is important in and out of the classroom, there’s a huge impact that it leaves in the educational world. This genre helps children mature into adult readers who are able to understand the deeper importances of the narratives, and without these simplistic and pictured filled books readers wouldn’t be able to do just that. The idea of children’s literature pushes children to challenge boundaries that may not be possible in reality, and allows them to tap into their creative side. It not only helps shape the readers at young ages but it also continues shaping these readers into adulthood. Children’s literature is extremely important despite the fairytale stories and all the talking animals they might encounter.
