The Impact And History Of “The Lime-Green Theory” On Pop-Culture Villains

Abstract:

The “Lime-Green Theory” is a modern hypothesis on the psychology associated with the hue green. While lime or Scheele’s green are often the focus of this theory, green in general has many negative connections to historical events. This has created an association between the color green and villainy. Many pop culture villains’ color pallets contain versions of green, and this impacts how a viewer feels when the character is first introduced. This presentation will dive into the history of negativity connected to green, and how this impacts a character’s first impression to an audience.
