The Idea of Fairness: How Special Education Policies Have Evolved (1965-2020)
Abstract:
This poster will summarize my Honors Thesis. My work explains the history of special education law with particular focus on the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, also known as ESEA, and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act of 1975, commonly referred to as IDEA. The piece analyzes the effectiveness of the laws by looking at both the successes and failures of the law throughout time beginning 1965 up until 2020.
