The Harmful Effects of Labeling Students as Gifted

Abstract:

My poster will explain the harmful effects of labeling students as gifted and how it impacts students long-term. I will explain how although labeling students can help teachers to group students effectively, labeling students as gifted negatively impacts them long-term because of the high expectations, struggles socially, and burnout they often experience. I will present my research using evidence to support how gifted labels negatively affect students.
