Siena Bio-Blitz

Abstract:

The event would take place at Siena campus and include several activities to engage Students in documenting local biodiversity. The event would be promoted through the Siena Biodiversity Instagram account, flyers, and campus emails to attract volunteers who are passionate about nature and the environment. We will hold an initial meeting to teach participants about the inaturalist app and how to collect data. Participants will then have 24 hours to document their observations using the iNaturalist app. The data collected would be analyzed with the use of iNaturalist, with the results shared with Students and the community to showcase the importance of biodiversity conservation. Follow-up events would be organized to continue the conversation and build momentum for biodiversity conservation efforts. This bio blitz event would serve as an excellent opportunity for students to connect with nature, learn about local biodiversity, and engage with like-minded individuals.
