Abstract:

Senate Bill S931 is currently in the 2023-2024 New York State Legislative Session. The bill was introduced by Senator Roxanne J. Persaud, a Democrat from New York’s 19th Senate district, and is currently in the Women’s Issues Committee. The purpose of this bill is to prohibit virginity examinations in New York. Virginity examinations are considered medically and scientifically invalid, leading to harmful physical and mental problems for women.
