Representation Matters: The Importance of Diverse Female Characters in TV Programming

Abstract:

My presentation is about how representation in TV programming lacks luster and is unrealistic to our society. This lack of representation makes it seem like people who are not white, straight, men, or disabled don’t make up large parts of our population even though they do. This creates a falsehood in the way we see our reality because TV programming, for the most part, models our reality with fictional events and characters.
