Neonatal Medical Adhesive Related Skin Injuries
Abstract:
After attending clinical in the Albany Med NICU, I researched evidence based practice to prevent medical adhesive relate skin injury in extremely low birth weight neonates. The neonates skin is very underdeveloped and thin. During care this population often have medical tape attached to their skin to keep tubing in place. When removing the adhesive there is a high chance of a skin injury. To prevent a medical adhesive related skin injury the use of a silicon based remover will reduce the risk of injury.
