How COVID-19 Has Mentally and Physically Impacted Critical Care Nurses

Abstract:

For this research project, I chose to examine how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected critical care nurses both mentally and physically. Both qualitative and quantitative data were examined to study how nurses were coping with the pandemic as well as how they felt their life had been impacted. Research determined that the pandemic has led to increased fear, anxiety, insomnia and PTSD in these nurses. Additionally, it has been discovered that the mental effects from COVID-19 has been the leading cause for nursing burnout, job satisfaction and for nursing shortages due to their hospitals not providing proper support to handle the effects from the COVID-19 pandemic.
