How Athletes Use Social Media To Help Further their Brand

Abstract:

The use of social media by pro athletes to expand their personal brands outside of their sport has become increasingly apparent in today’s world. (Swarm, 2018) In the presentation, I’ll go over how social media platforms have made it possible for athletes to interact with their followers and develop their own brands. A direct line of connection between athletes and fans as well as the media is offered by social media, which also enables athletes to create their own narrative. I also argue some of the potential drawbacks of social media for athletes, such as the possibility of bad press or damage to their brand if they share controversial material, and lack of privacy.
