Emergence of Anti-heroes
Abstract:
My research centers around the recent emergence of the anti-hero archetype in the media. I discuss the flaws associated with the hero and villain archetypes that make them too boring and predictable, therefore leaving room for anti-heroes to thrive. Anti-heroes have become popular mostly due to their relatability and the depth that they add to storylines. Audiences are drawn more to anti-heroes because they can relate to the characters’ imperfections and root for their unguaranteed success. Some examples of anti-heroes that I discussed include Jay Gatsby and Larry David, two protagonists who have good intentions but make some immoral decisions in their lives. Anti-heroes have solidified their permanent stake in the media due to the success they have generated as of late.Title
