Abstract:

I will be presenting on the idea of makeup sex/ argument sex. It will be surrounding the toxicity that can come with the normalization of these forms of sexual acts. I will be looking at Maria Carmen Machado’s memoir In the Dream House as my main source and using Orenstein’s works from Boys & Sex and Girls & Sex to show how sex can be an uncomfortable and non pleasurable thing if the taboo around healthy sex is not dismantled.
