Bill S3529
Abstract:
Throughout the semester our group has been advocating for Bill S3529 in the NY senate. Bill S3925 would regulate the ingredients in menstrual products, to ensure that harmful ingredients like lead, talc and mercury are not being exposed to consumers. The purpose of this bill is to ensure that the public is kept safe from harm and to allow consumers to make informed decisions on what is best for their body. With some menstrual products linked to an increased possibility of Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS), consumers deserve the right to know what is going on in their bodies. The purpose of this bill is also to ensure that products are safe to enter the market. In the past, products like the Proctor & Gamble Rely tampon have caused serious health issues, like TSS, in some of its users. Menstrual products have historically been classified as “safe” by the Medical Device Association without any testing required. By passing this legislation we can ensure that consumers are protected and aware of what they are purchasing.Title
