Beat Poetry Mixtape: DiPrima’s Demolition of Social Standards

Abstract:

A radio show podcast discussing the poetry of Diane DiPrima; more specifically, her poetry about abortion and her version of non-conformity. I will be closely examining how her writing caused an uproar in addition to also looking at how she responded to other beat poets. Her writing includes raw emotion and storytelling from a women’s perspective in a time dominated by men. My podcast will include a deep dive into what it is like to be a women during this time, as well as non-conformity.
