Abstract:

Throughout time, feminine essence and sexism have played a major role in the field of politics, negatively affecting how women are viewed (Dignam & Rohlinger, 2019; Knuckey, 2018). This genre model has mainly focused on sexism and the 2016 election (Knuckey, 2018) and gender and negotiation expectations after the Trump presidency (Kolb, 2019). Although both of these two areas of focus are crucial to seeing how women are negatively viewed in politics, they fail to consider the effects of these ideologies on society’s views of women. In my presentation, I’m going to analyze how a politician’s words can have an effect on how society views a specific gender and can be analyzed through the use of semiotic and ideological analysis, as well as expressing expectations of a specific gender.
