Athletic Regulations: The Change in NIL deals for College Athletes

Abstract:

Within the past few years, scholars have found successful research based on the deal of name, image, and likeness for athletes to promote themselves within The National Collegiate Athletic Association. (2021) Through different rules and regulations there has been a lot of change about what athletes can and cannot do when it comes to promoting themselves. Through a historical analysis I will show the difference of when it started and what it has become today. Athletes didn’t have the opportunity to express themselves in ways to get compensated. In 2021 NIL came out to help make a difference in this rule. Universities and colleges are making an effort in what they could assist to help those student-athletes fight for what they deserve and locate sources of partnerships with companies. The information provided from the articles back up the NCAA on the ordinance of NIL to help further produce college athletes compensation for their skill and effort within sports.
