Abstract:

The effect of gender roles on sexual assault in the military plays a more significant role than the public realizes. Since these gender roles work to keep women quiet, the military puts band-aid solutions over these cases. The U.S. military needs to do more to prevent these cases of sexual assault by working to abolish deep traditional gender roles, encourage these cases to be reported, and try the cases outside of the military system.
